OGAE 2020 Eurovision Fan Contest

2020 will be a year none of us will ever forget. It will also go down in history as the year of the Eurovision Song Contest that never was!

The songs had all been selected and the artists were ready, fans had made their travel plans, the stage design had been finalised, tickets sold, and everyone was set to meet in the Dutch city of Rotterdam. But it was not to be.

The health emergency sweeping the world meant that a contest with a live audience was impossible. Regrettably, the organisers were unable to agree an alternative format and chose to cancel the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest. This came as a cruel blow to millions of people around the world, just when they were in dire need of something to lift their spirits, but all is not lost…

The fans are the beating heart of Eurovision, and OGAE is proud to be the largest organised fan network with more than 13,000 members across the world. The fans want the show to go on and want the 2020 ESC artists to have a chance to present their songs and to see what might have happened on 16 May had the contest gone ahead as planned. OGAE is therefore delighted to announce the Eurovision Fan Contest and invites Eurovision enthusiasts across the world to cast their votes.

Each year, OGAE conducts its own poll among its members to determine who is their favourite entry. Past winners of this poll have included Mahmood from Italy in 2019 and Netta from Israel in 2018. This OGAE poll will be conducted as normal this year but will be expanded so that anyone and everyone who loves Eurovision can join in and cast their votes.

The OGAE national clubs will still select their favourite entry as in past years, but they will also constitute the juries and will contribute 50% to the overall result. The remaining 50% will come from the general public who will have a chance to vote on-line for their favourite song thanks to our partners Mi-Voice. The exact split between jury and public votes may differ depending on the countries that get involved.

In order to take part in the Eurovision Fan Contest, all you have to do is to register your details here by 23:59 CET on 3 May 2020. Registration is necessary so that we can ensure that the vote is as fair as possible, your details will not be used for any other purpose. When voting opens you will then receive an email allowing you to cast your vote and contribute to overall result.

You can listen to all the 41 ESC 2020 songs and watch their videos by going to 2020 SONGS, and there will be appropriate links to the songs on the voting website. The songs will also be available for streaming and download, and on the official ESC2020 CD that is due to be released on 24 April.

This is all just for fun and is in no way associated with the EBU or the official Eurovision Song Contest. All the acts selected for Eurovision 2020 are already heroes, but the overall winner will receive a trophy as the 2020 fans’ favourite, and an even more special place in our Eurovision hearts.
